1. Pengertian

Procedure text adalah jenis teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang berfungsi untuk memberikan petunjuk atau langkah-langkah dalam melakukan sesuatu, membuat sesuatu, atau menggunakan sesuatu.

Tujuan utamanya adalah memberi instruksi secara sistematis.

2. Tujuan (Purpose)

• Menjelaskan cara membuat atau melakukan sesuatu.
  
  

• Memberikan petunjuk secara runtut agar hasil yang diinginkan tercapai.
  
  

3. Struktur Teks (Generic Structure)

1. Goal / Purpose → tujuan atau hasil akhir yang ingin dicapai.
   Contoh: How to Make a Cup of Coffee
   
   

2. Materials / Ingredients → bahan atau alat yang diperlukan.
   Contoh: coffee, sugar, hot water, spoon, cup
   
   

3. Steps / Methods → langkah-langkah yang harus dilakukan secara berurutan.
   Biasanya ditulis dengan imperative sentence (kalimat perintah).
   Contoh: Pour hot water into the cup.
   
   

4. Ciri Kebahasaan (Language Features)

• Menggunakan simple present tense
  
  

• Menggunakan imperative sentences (kalimat perintah)
  Contoh: Cut the onion.
  
  

• Menggunakan connective words (kata sambung urutan)
  Contoh: first, then, next, finally
  
  

• Menggunakan kata kerja aksi (action verbs)
  Contoh: mix, pour, turn on, cut, boil
  
  

5. Contoh Procedure Text

How to Make Fried Rice

Goal:
To make fried rice

Ingredients:

• 1 plate of rice
  
  

• 2 cloves of garlic
  
  

• 1 egg
  
  

• 2 spoons of oil
  
  

• Salt and soy sauce
  
  

Steps:

1. First, heat the oil in a frying pan.
   
   

2. Then, sauté the garlic until it smells good.
   
   

3. Next, add the egg and scramble it.
   
   

4. After that, put the rice into the pan.
   
   

5. Add salt and soy sauce.
   
   

6. Stir well until it is cooked.
   
   

7. Finally, serve the fried rice on a plate.
